A wedding by the water
Fjord wedding
Inner Sunnmøre is made for weddings. Steep mountainsides mirrored in still water, farms that have stood where they always have, and a light that shifts through the whole day. I live in Ålesund and know the fjords here, from Geiranger and Valldal and further inland. If you're getting married by the water, I know where the light falls and when it's at its loveliest.

The landscape is part of the team
A fjord wedding gives you pictures you won't get anywhere else. The mountainsides frame the two of you, and the water carries the light onward. I work with the light that's there, and find the spots where the landscape lifts you forward rather than taking over. You're meant to be the main characters, but the fjord is allowed to tell where you are.

Discreet, even when nature is grand
I keep my distance with a telephoto lens and only come close for the most important moments. A ceremony outdoors by the water often has its own calm, and I'm there to capture it, not to direct it. Weather on the west coast can turn quickly, and I'm used to working with sun, wind and rain alike. There will always be pictures, whatever the weather.

Expression that lasts
I care more about expression that lasts than about trends. The pictures from the fjord shouldn't just show how it looked, but how it felt to stand there together. That's the feeling you'll recognise when you look back in ten, twenty or thirty years.
